Can faux wood blinds be spray painted.
Spray paint made for plastic but doubt they will work well once done.
Once your slats are completely dry apply a coat of satin or semi gloss latex finish to each one and let them sit for at least 24 hours.
On mar 28 2019.
I let it dried a bit before closing the blinds and spraypainting again.
You just need to hang the blinds in a way to be able to open and close the blinds.
In the next picture the left side has 2 coats and the right side only one.
And the much improved with a can of spray paint after.
I used two trestles and some leftover wood.
Use light coats of spray paint to cover the entire slat.
If you do this know that the paint may not be smooth.
And then spray until the brown is gone.
You may use a sponge or other implement to add texture to your blinds.
What would i use.
These were faux wood blinds probably made out of some sorty of vinyl or plastic.
He could have used my bff the paintbrush it just would have taken a bit longer the thing about this project is the time paint let dry completely turn the slats over paint let dry completely repeat on the next window.
Use what you have on hand.
But they had a fake wood grain in them which you can still see so these really do look like espresso stained wood blinds.
See 1 previous.
Harsh chemicals can actually damage your blinds.
The spray paint also made the strings stiff so that does affect the how easily the blinds raises and lowers.
Hope it works out for you.
The paint will freeze up the strings.
Decide on a pattern or texture before you begin painting.
Test out your ideas on a scrap piece of wood or cardboard.
If i sprayed blinds again i would use rit dye and dye the strings instead of spray painting.
When deciding to spray paint what you have instead of buying new you need to calculate the cost of supplies and your time as to whether that outweighs the expense of new blinds.
